Ya you def need to prepare for it and melee toons are in for a world of hurt though overgaurd+35-70% phys resist due to ghoul and full bloodknight set made the op phys enemies there esp the chargers bareable and high aether resist helped me stay alivee.and ya i attemped it with a phantasal blade reaper and melee warder, both of those couldnt clear it on ult >_< thats how hard it is.you need long range and good tankiness and the ability to judge when refelct buff goes down or you might kill yourself.A once proud and prosperous city with a booming port and trade network, Port Valbury has suffered greatly under the influence of the Aetherials. Having long range to deal with enemies that refuse to leave the damaging floors is the worst and ya i had to pet command and make my pets do the dirty work since they are immune to damaging floors while i as a axe+shield bloodknight dealt with the close range stuff.when reflectors appear (And ya the boss is a reflector or 3 of them who pass around that dumb buff) i think they wrecked my pets when they made the dps of my pets bounce back and insta gib the end i had no pets and the boss went down then. Theres also these roaming green smoke things that take massive chunks of your hp away, refect can wipe out your pets so make sure to tell them via pet attack to stay away until that ends though pets are immune to the damaging floor though they did die to reflect a lot >_>.once you get that all down you shouldnt die but again its long, lotsa reflectors, lotsa aether damage.high phys damage as well. Just bring lots of aether resist gear, some aether resist potions if you can't max out with gear and augments, and maybe a handful of aether clusters for when you get trapped in a small space with those green whirling turds.Īfter just finishing this area as my full blood knight set build.i say its really hard compared to couple other areas.lotsa annoying reflectors, damaging floors which can get you killed if you end up in a fight near those, just make sure you dont start fights on that.lotsa aether damage so that has to be capped.and my set had 40-70% phys resist so that wasnt a problem but phys resist can be importatnt.

There are much better areas and dungeons to farm that don't involve those stupidly OP tornados.īut don't let my vile hatred of those tornados (and whoever designed and implemented them) discourage you from making the trek through the aether hellhole at least once to complete your quest and get the achievement.

Once I got Decree of Aldritch [to drop, haven't felt the desire to return to that place. Can't imagine going into Valbury without *at least* 80% aether resist.Įven on my best geared character, a lightning druid with ~21k health, those aether tornados discourage me from doing Valbury, Granted, that is on Ultimate difficulty, but I don't think the environmental damage is affected by difficulty. They move too quickly, there can be multiple of them at a time stacking with the sh*t aether ground, and maxed aether resist doesn't seem to do much at all to reduce their damage. Mostly I just f*cking hate those aethernados with a passion. The enemies themselves aren't too awful in Port Valbury, though as Halcyon mentions, the final triple boss fight could be challenging if you don't have significant damage output and healing capabilities.
